Funny Girl occurs as 1964 semi-biographical musical that tells a story of Broadway star Fanny Brice. It featured the book by Isobel Lennart, music by Jule Styne, and lyrics by Bob Merrill. A original production starred Barbra Streisand, Sydney Chaplin, Kay Medford, Danny Meehan and Jean Stapleton, and was presented by Brice's boy-around-law, Ray Stark. A original production was nominated for eight Tony Awards, however won none.

A film version, freed inside 1968, re-starred Streisand and Medford, Omar Sharif, Anne Francis (who role was severely cut), Walter Pidgeon, and, around a bit partially, Mae Questel. A motion-picture show was directed by William Wyler. Streisand won a Academy Award for Best Actress; the film was likewise nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Kay Medford), Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Music, Score of a Musical Picture (Original or Adaptation), Best Music, Song (Jule Styne and Bob Merrill for "Funny Girl"), Best Picture and Best Sound.

The film sequel to Funny Girl followed inside 1975 titled Funny Lady. Together, each films produce the sweetly court (whenever historically erroneous) to the life of the gifted comedienne & performing artist Fanny Brice. The last Hollywood biopic allegedly according to Brice's life was freed inside 1939 and titled Rose of Washington Square, & starred Alice Faye, Tyrone Power, and Al Jolson.
